In October will be released ‘Sisyphus’, an album I recorded in Tokyo back in 2017 with Takashi Sugawa and Shun Ishiwaka (9th October on HANJI/Inouïe Distribution - Free Flying Productions).
Very excited about the release of this music which I believe has aged quite well^^
The first single of this album is a composition called ‘Detour’ and will be available on Aug 28th….
You can find it here
Pierre Fenichel, Fred Pasqua and myself are WAKAN. The first project of this equilateral trio called ‘Being Dantès’ is available now on vinyl, CD or digital formats. Compositions are shared between the three of us, and are inspired by the metamorphosis that Alexandre Dumas’ character Edmond Dantès have gone through while being jailed in the Chateau d’If, eventually shaping him as a future Count of Monte Cristo.
You can order the vinyls and CDs as well as access the streamings of ‘Being Dantès’ at this link.
You can also download the music in high-res from WAKAN’s Bandcamp.
You can follow WAKAN at their Facebook page or their Instagram profile.
You can find some videos of the trio at their Youtube Channel.
Meanwhile, here are the three in-extenso extracts taken from ‘Being Dantès’.
Pierre Fenichel’s composition “Aldous’ Journey’
My own composition '“Major”
And Pierre Fenichel’s composition “L’aile d’un rêve”
Hoping you will enjoy!!! And if so, don’t hesitate to share! Thanks!
Francesca performed some concerts in duo with bassist Takashi Sugawa in Tokyo in April 2024.
Here are two extracts of these refreshing encounters.
One piece by Takashi Sugawa : ‘Stefano’
An arrangement of John Coltrane’s ‘Countdown’
After a short teaser revealed last week, here is an entire piece by Francesca Han titled 'Major' recently recorded with WAKAN.
Francesca Han, Pierre Fenichel and Fred Pasqua have joined forces to create and perform new and exciting soul vibrating music under the name WAKAN.
The repertoire they are currently developing is for a project that will take shape later this year and materialise in an album in early 2025.

This is a first video of WAKAN project. A glimpse of the exciting new repertoire created by this trio.
After many postponements, it is in the fall of 2021 that pianist Francesca Han was finally able to invite trumpeter Ralph Alessi to bring to life an original repertoire during a beautiful session at La Buissonne studios, South of France.
Precise and refined gestures on delicate matter, a shared trust and a very free dialogue : the duo exudes a sensitivity that serves an original music for all sorts of journeys.
‘Exude’ will be released on October 6th 2022, and will be available in Digital and CD on Bandcamp
There will be three concerts to celebrate this in meaningful venues : l’AJMI (Avignon, 6th October), Le Périscope-Musiques Innovantes (Lyon, 7th October) and Les Caves de l’Abbaye (Beaune, 8th October).
An artwork from Lucio Fontana was chosen to purposedly illustrate the refinement of the music gathered in ‘Exude’, as ‘Fontana believed that matter should be transformed into energy in order to invade space in a dynamic form’.
Hoping you will enjoy the listening journey!
The Cri du Port in Marseilles was able to maintain this solo concert to be broadcast live on Radio Grenouille (88.8 FM in Marseilles area, and www.radiogrenouille.com for the rest of the world). This will be on Thursday 12th November, from 5:30pm to 7:00pm (French time).

On March 21st 2017, Francesca recorded with the very talented Takashi Sugawa (bass) and Shun Ishiwaka (drums) some of the material that she had been playing with them for most of her stay in Japan (2015-2019). The trio recorded these compositions at the all analog Studio Dede in Ikebukuro-Tokyo. A full album has not materialized yet.
But here you can listen to 2 pieces recorded that day.
‘Petit Soleil’ is a lullaby dedicated to her then soon to come first son.
‘Chrysanthemum’ is a tribute to the late Masabumi Kikuchi.
